Top 5 Favourite Horror Games by Cornish
So I covered Scariest games on the list, but this time I want to talk about horror games with an amazing story. Either it’s a psychological horror or a long-time series
This is my ranking of the top 5 horror games with a great story
5, Project Zero Series

So this game has been a long-time series with the same concept, but the story itself in each game is amazing.
However, the first game in the series was It was based on a true story, although loosely. There was a Himuro Mansion in Japan, and gruesome rituals were performed there.
But the other series were not; however, from 1, 2, 3 and 5 have connections with each game, making the game exciting to see the characters and their story in the game.
Some of the series you will have to emulate or find a copy but the other games that are available on all platforms are about, so I’m just going to put the ones on stream.

FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO 4
FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO 5
FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO 2 Remake
4, Cursed Series

So this series I am blown away by as they’re all free, and after playing the first one I wanted more, and with 2 and 3 was an amazing storytelling, scares and great features in each one. See the first one brings the basic story but the character progressions in the story got me.

Worth a play and they’re all free here: Cursed Series
3, Decay Series

This little game was an Xbox 360 indie point and click game it had 3 episodes and then had a sequel with a completely different story, but in the same universe.
So the first one, the story begins with the player waking up in an abandoned apartment building after apparently trying to kill themselves. As you search for clues about who you are & why you tried to do such a thing, you discover that all is not well.
The thing with the story you think you are a person called Martin Wallace who killed himself because his daughter, son-in-law & granddaughter died in a car
And the plot twist is amazing

Now We talk about Decay: The Mare
This time, you are Sam, an addict who checks into the “Reaching Dreams” institution to get clean, only to fall into an endless, nightmarish reality,
The game and exploring really puts you on edge, and though out there are creepy creatures you see and yes, scare the balls out of you, turns out they are victims of the institution.

A Great story telling. Wish they did more.
You can only play the first Decay here: Decay series
Also Decay The Mare Series here: Decay: The Mare
2, In Sound Mind

Through the years Horror games got pretty doll for storytelling and making a game bring you in the story with the music, and by god this one beat that out of the park.
The story for this game ou play as Desmond Wales, a well-accomplished therapist who wakes up in his apartment, realising the world around him is flooded and that he is trapped in some weird reality, with his cat as his only guide. You are tasked to find the tapes from your recent patients, who have either disappeared or are now deceased, in an attempt to make sense of what’s happening while trying to hold onto your own sanity.

The storytelling gameplay and the combination with the audio really got me hooked so much. It was such an incredible ride. Agian, It had a good story, great puzzles and the music made by The Living Tombstone
The scares of this game are not in your face scares but they get you at times when you least expect it
If it were not for the Number 1 in my top 5 this would be that.

Check out the game here as it also has a very long demo: IN SOUND MIND
1, Silent Hill Series

Theres is so many things I can say for this series, and every single Silent hill game has incredible storytelling. From the physiological storytelling to the twist in each game
The art for the monsters is one of the best things i seen, like come on. a man with a metal triangle head with a massive nife the same size as you shows the words
“DO I RUN NOW”

With their recent remake of the 2nd one i am proud to say they are doing an amazing job. Seriously, the first time ever I felt emotions in that game.
but agian, every Silent Hill you are playing a completely different character with there own turmoil in the past. Whether you killed your wife plot twist, to having a bad past wattching your dad hang him self as a kid, to your son got murdered and the town is making you relive stuff. amazing and finally the music from the horror sound in game to the Rocky songs composed by Akira Yamaoka and singer Mary Elizabeth McGlynn.
