Riddlewood Manor – Game Review

Riddlewood Manor

As you may know, I love a good point and click game, finding very fun ones and playing the spooky ones.
These point-and-click games get me on another level from your FPS kind of horror games.Stuff using my brain in these games and get that feeling of justification on solving
things, exploring places and finding items.

So when i say this game was a nice fix to my point and click addiction I mean it.
Riddlewood Manor is a point-and-click horror game that has an amazing cartoon-style art, and with it being a horror game
Its not like a horror horror game, it has that (I hate to say it, cute fun horror game)

Story
You wake up with no memory and don’t know who you are.
You are surrounded by many priests below the Riddlewood manor.
They have asked you to do a task to cleanse it of all the ghosts and
demons that are living in Riddlewood Manor.

Before you leave for the manor, you are gifted with 3 items from 3 priests, and you set off to
uncover the terrors and the horror in the manor.

I got to say the story is pretty left and right.
There is one point that I like, what is going on and the other part of this cute style cartoon horror
to something that I would say damn that little brutal
But, depending on what you discover is important to the game.

Gameplay
So ill be honest im really digging these 360 point and click.
Solving things in this game took me back to the Rusty Lake days, as these 2 games have a feature in common.
The gameplay can be a bit silly and not in a bad way at all, I mean, the goofy and silly bits you come across.
As you go through many rooms, there will be times you will have to die to (I guess) be Reborn at the start and re-enter rooms because some rooms lock you inside and don’t worry, the items you had and are not with you after you died are still in the rooms.

When I say you need a keen eye, you need to remember things that you think are odd there.

Riddlewood Manor
Now the Jump scares are quite cheap and funny, heck, I will say I did get caught off guard a few times, but for some reason the Humour of these cartoon scares were actually ok and funny even without being scary. For people who don’t want jump scares, there is a setting where you can tick the scare warning function in the settings.

Puzzles
The cool feature for this point-and-click game is the puzzles, which were very good but sometimes stressful.
I only had one puzzle. I just did not get it at all, but these puzzles were great and felt justified that I did it, and some of them were really fun to solve. Despite the one or 2 puzzles that just didn’t make sense, they were really fun.

Audio and Visuals
Well, what I can say was that it was such a delight with the cartoon look.
There were some A+. I loved all the animation and having that feeling like I saw an episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.
Audio is nice and clean, but I wish when I tried to leave a room, and the door closes, that a creepy man that sounds like he’s touching himself would stop making them noise (All jokes)

Overall

This was a wonderful game with so much adventure and solving in each room it’s not one of them scary games, I’d still call it a cute cartoon, funny, spooky game.
some scares were cheap and funny, heck, I was caught off guard a few times.
The puzzle solving was good, I like a good puzzle where it’s not too harsh and not too easy, just the medium area.

Oh, though one or 2 puzzles just didn’t make sense.
I’m happy to say the price tag is worth its cost $17.11 or GBP £12.72p
