Pioner – Early Access Thoughts

So Pioner Has been out for a few months and had a chance to breathe and catch up with some fixes.
A game I have been excited to play around and see this open world survival pve/pvp game so i gave it a few months and im going to say it is a hot mess.

Story

In Pioner you the players, are a survivor investigating the mystery of this, exploring mutated, dangerous zones to uncover the cause of the disaster while navigating conflicting, high-stakes factions. Explore and uncover the island lore. So Pretty much that, really, atm there is not a lot to go. I’m a day into it, and there really is a do this and do that for someone.

Gameplay

Well lets start of with this is an exploring survival game with a story and many missions. with a lot of weapons, gear and other crafting items in the game to either discover in the map or craft at a safe zone. Many attachments for your weapons can be slotted without going into your inventory. Food is a thing to get to keep you fit and ready to journey in the island.

There are many anomalies like the stalker series, for you to be cautious of. There are also many creatures and human enemies that are either too stupid or broken. But I will get into that later. There are many missions to do and see to level yourself up and earn some stuff along the way.  and supposedly pvp and coop (Also get into that later)

visuals and sound

Will say pretty good and after a few tweaks it really looks good the detail in some areas are amazing however for a surviver game to be a surviver the music that plays in the game is not great if im out in the open i would really like to have no music but have the everioment play only music that should be played is either in a cutscene or in a mission section

The many problems with this game so far!

I’m so upset with this game, and this is where they really need to focus on fixing the game and working to make the game enjoyable like their gameplay trailer, rather than adding events and new stuff right now.

As of right now the looked like so much fun, but it’s a big mess. so lets start off with my experience and attempting to play the game with my friend.

We are ready to set off on story missions or other missions we can find from npc. Just going out in this beautiful world, finding amazing places and secrets, crafting stuff, trading with each other and getting ready to take on bosses, heck, even a bit of fun doing pvp out there.
BUT LET ME TELL YOU, we got to the hub after doing 45 mins of the introduction. We set up a team to set off on this vas amazing open world. 2 minutes after leaving the hub, we got no warning and why separated from each other. Seriously, no words my friend just outright vanished and the reason was game pulls a “no you can’t have fun” and appears Story Area Single player only. In there Discribtion, they even said “As an MMO FPS, it offers both PvE missions and intense PvP zones” This Upset my friend to the point he refunded it and he’s very shy about doing that.
Navigation around the area was so stressful Trying to find a workbench at the safezone, my god, took me over an hour, and there’s no icon in the map of where they are.
Marker icons in-game will disappear when you turn to look at them.
There is sometime freeze lag so bad at times i though i was going to crash and the game closes when going to camps.

The combat seriously needs to be worked on a bit. There are times they just outright run at you and don’t hide and shoot infact i was in a corridor, and as I turned in without a millisecond and just when I was about to come around that corner i was blasted in the face before I could react.

Overall

This looks like a great game and it can be amazing they need to work on all the fixes before they keep throwing event because i feel if they just hold off the events and focus on the game itself, this could be a lot better but right now as im writing its been 3 months since its out and the fixes really need to start being worked.
For a start, remove the Story Area Single player only because that’s what really killed my fun with my friend.

I will be keeping a eye on this game and hoping it can be turned around as the Chernobylite did. At the start, it was bad and buggy, but it turned out to be an amazing game when they worked on the fixes.
