Method 1 – Using the Steam app (Windows/Mac/Linux)
1. Open Steam

Start the Steam program on your computer and log in.
2. Go to “Games” menu
-
At the top left, click Games.
-
Choose “Activate a Product on Steam…”.
(If you don’t see the top menu, press Alt on your keyboard.)

3. Start activation
-
A window pops up called Product Activation.
-
Click Next.
-
On the next screen, click I Agree to accept the terms.
4. Enter your code
-
You’ll see a box that says Product Code (like in the images).
-
Carefully type or paste your Steam key into that box.

5. Finish
-
Click Next.
-
Steam will check the code:
-
If it’s valid, it will say the product was successfully activated.

Click Finish.
-
Your new game or content is now in your Library.
-
You can click Install right away or do it later from the Library.

Method 2 – Using a web browser (no app needed for activation)
You can also redeem a code on the Steam website.
1. Open the Steam “Activate a product” page

Go to the official Steam site and sign in.
-
Open the “Activate a Product on Steam” page (it looks like the blue page in the images).
2. Enter your code
-
In the Product Code box, type or paste your key.

Tick the box that says you agree to the Steam Subscriber Agreement.
3. Confirm

Click Continue.
-
If the code is fine, the item is added to your account.

Next time you open the Steam app, you’ll see it in your Library and can install it.
Quick troubleshooting
If it doesn’t work:
-
“Invalid product code”
-
Check for typos like confusing
0(zero) withO, or1withI.
-

“Duplicate product code”
-
The code has already been used. Contact the store you got it from or Steam Support.

Region errors
-
Some codes only work in certain countries; check where your code is allowed.
